Queen's Gambit: a practical example

Black can accept with dxc4 or decline while maintaining central tension. In many accepted lines, White can try to regain the pawn through development and central pressure. The opening's name does not mean that every pawn offer should be recovered immediately.

How to use the idea in your games

Understand the difference between winning back material and improving the position. Avoid spending several tempi chasing a pawn if sound development offers stronger compensation.
